Button front shirts were worn by workmen in the 1920's as the first layer on the skin. Dress shirts were usually worn over a long sleeve or a short sleeve version of a button placket shirt. This 1927 Henley is thinner than Pike Brother's 1954 Utility Shirt and smoother inside, so it is easier on the skin and cooler.Ideal to wear it under a shirt or in summer as the only layer.
